East Sussex will always be home for Nicky Osborne, but Cornwall has been part of her life since the summers she spent there as a teenager — and, in 2020, it became the place she chose to live and write.
A teacher by profession and a keen observer of people, Nicky has always been fascinated by the lives unfolding around her. It was the people she observed along Cornwall's beaches who inspired Shallow Affairs, her debut novel.
Nicky is now writing its follow-up, alongside a new and entirely separate novel.

When Shallow Affairs arrived this summer, I had no idea quite where it would take me. From festivals and signings to ITV News; from seeing it on the shelves at Shrew Books and Penhaligon's to finding it at Readymoney Cove — the very place where part of its story is set.
Hundreds of copies found their way into readers' hands during that first summer. For an independent debut author, that has been incredibly humbling.
Now the seasons are shifting — and Shallow Affairs is beginning a new chapter of its own, reaching readers through Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and beyond.
